I went down for Operation Deep Freeze ’83 aboard USCGC Polar Star (WAGB-10). During that trip we circumnavigated the continent with a State Department delegation on a Antarctic Treaty compliance verification survey. Although we didn’t winter over we were “Around” for over 3 months instead of the normal 30-45 day support and supply to Palmer, McMurdo, SoPole Station.
