KeymasterThanks, m0loch for mentioning! I wonder if the new version will remember previous job submissions.
And I’m enough of a writer to cringe at that bit of bad grammar on the RayJobs site: “…Current users of RayJobs.com will need create a new user profile…”
Someone forgot to.

KeymasterIt almost sounds like everyone will have to reapply for the jobs again. I don’t know what else they would mean if you have to start from scratch with a new user profile. They didn’t say you need to update your old one. Weird.

KeymasterKnowing nothing about the new process,I wonder if this gives an edge to new applicants. If it were me and I hadn’t a job offer yet, I would sign on and repost my resume the 26th.
Who knows, you might get bumped to the top of the list.April 21, 2010 at 9:36 pm #10421capnsteve
ParticipantHey Mike,
I can still get on to rayjobs with all the old settings but my status for the job has dissappeared. I called HR and they said that is wierd. She did say that she did look at my app. and sent it on to the hiring mngr.

ParticipantI logged into Rayjobs and it looks the same with the exception that the warning about needing to create a new profile is there.
I would think that the status of existing accounts will be maintained with the update, but that your “profile” will need to be updated to add the new information that will drive new features/functions.
I’ve upgraded enough systems where new info is required in order for user accounts to be rolled forward to think this is not unusual.
It may reset some status flags or such, so as Mike recommended, stay on top of it and perhaps be ready to reapply, but likely, it will just want a few more bits and pieces of information.
Cheers!April 26, 2010 at 6:48 pm #10423spidey
ParticipantTried logging in at almost 3PM EST and it seems the system is still being upgraded.
Be sure to go in and create your new profile once the upgrade is completed.April 26, 2010 at 7:40 pm #10424bchambers
MemberHi Spidey,
I was able to create a new profile early this morning so you might want to try again. If you click on the link for US Jobs from the http://www.rayjobs.com homepage, there is a link on the right to create a new account. It looks like there’s a bunch of jobs that were closed before and now are reposted. I’m not sure how it works for jobs that I had already submitted my resume for in the old system, but I went ahead and resubmitted it in the new system just to make sure. (It looks like they’re now outsourcing their jobs posting site to another company – brassring.com)

ParticipantI was able to create a new account, but still can’t access either of my old accounts.
Clicked on the forgot password link, but no email from that yet.
Has anyone been able to login with their old credentials?April 26, 2010 at 7:50 pm #10426bchambers
MemberNo, I can’t login with my old credentials either. I’m thinking that where they transitioned to another site (brassring.com) rather than upgraded their old site, that the accounts are starting from scratch. However, that’s just a guess on my part so I could definitely be wrong.

KeymasterSounds like all the more reason to resubmit for the jobs you already applied for. Who knows, they may have bumped you in the old system, but pick you up now. Good luck.

MemberLooks like all of the jobs (at least the IT ones) that was taken off of the old site is alive again on the new site. Doesn’t hurt to re-apply I guess.

MemberOk, so how does the new site work? It won’t accept my old log in info, has yet to respond to my request for my password, and in general seems to be a very good reflection of RPSC in general. I am reluctant to start over with a new log in if that means my previous apps and resumes are gone. Especially since I have still have 3 apps listed as interview. WTF? Over.

ParticipantI was able to create a new garbage account that I even used a fake email for. I can login ti it fine.
Neither of my other accounts are accepted by the login and I also have not had a reply for a password reset.
It did say you would need to create a new profile, but didn’t say a new account.
I have 5 jobs in review or received, and no way to migrate them to a new account.
Just have to hope that the in review means the hiring managers all have my info and don’t need Ray Jobs, and then I don’t know about the received ones.
I would reapply for those ones, but they are not posted currently.
Maybe I should just go find someplace to hang out and enjoy the rain.April 28, 2010 at 7:28 pm #10431Kelly74Q
MemberWay down at the bottom of the RayJobs page, past 40 acres of blank page, I found a link to a FAQ page. In a nutshell, it says that our old log in’s are no longer valid, and we cannot check the status of anything we applied to before “The Change”. Tho it does say that HR and the hiring managers have access to the old system. So it looks like we have to start over from scratch on new jobs, and hope for the best on the ones we’ve already submitted to. Just like changing horses in the middle of the river….
