    CNN’s got the story:

Maybe now the ice will go out of McMurdo Sound.

    Cheers,

Great news, have not heard anything about it anywhere else yet, even the NSF site has nothing up there about it.

Hope things are going well for you these days Hunter.

I’ve been watching the sat photos for the last month or so. The chunk of the ice tongue broke off a couple of days ago. There are still two smaller bergs that haven’t moved and are still blocking the ice from going out. I’ll see if I can’t find a couple of good sat photos in the coming days to post here.

We’ve been stormy the last few days and the sat photo’s aren’t too good. I’ll keep my eyes peeled.
Hunter are you planning on reapplying?

    Hiya Mike and Lucky –

Things are going well for me; I’m back in New York, at my old job (editor for a travel guide publishing company), and busy readjusting to life in the city. Which, to be honest, suits me quite well.

Unfortunately, Mike, I don’t plan on reapplying. Even if I really really wanted to, I’m not sure I could get anybody to even listen to me. I guess that’s what happens when you get canned. But, who knows? I may well try to get an Artists & Writers grant sometime in the future. I’d love to return to the Ice, just not under the Raytheon aegis.

    All the best,

    Hunter
