Black Island Helicopter Trip

Hey Guys, i got lucky today and had an awesome helicopter ride to Black
Island, i was there for about 6 hours to do a fire inspection.

Black Island is out satellite communications facility, its located about 25
miles south of McMurdo, its a short 15 min helo ride each way.

Here are a few pictures of the facilities on black island.. note the large
wind generators, they charge batteries and supply enough electricity to run
the works..

Its very cozy in there, with a nice kitchen and living room, there are 2
people that live there all summer, then the outpost is unmanned during the
winter..

On the way back, we flew over the crash of Pegasus, I have a few more that i
took, so if your an OAE and want them, drop me an email.. We were at 500 ft
when i took the pics from the air…
