    I know this might seem like a stupid question to some, but…

    Can you buy cigarettes at the store in McMurdo? If so, how much are they?

    $2.00 per pack–what a bargain!  I think $2.25 for the American Spirits (healthier you know)–not a large selection…..marbs, marb lights, camel, camel lights.  Not sure if there are any menthols.  They all tend to get a little dry by the summer though.

    Thanks for the tip, V.  I’m coming from NYC, where smokes are $7.50 a pack, so $2 sounds great to me!

    Unless they’ve dropped the price this year. Lorie tells me that they are 2.25 apack for regular and 3.00 for American spirits. Marlbourough and Marl light can be bought by the carton. All others packs only with a 2 pack per purchase limit. When you arrive you may find the store closed when you get in so if cigs are a life and death issue for you, bring a couple of packs to tide you over. Also it’s not uncommon to be delayed in Christchurch for up to a week or more. Cigs are available there but maybe not your favorite american brand so keep that in mind when you pack.
    I believe the limit for export overseas is 2 cartons.
