KeymasterI have recently been contacted by RayJobs for a resume that I submitted. I am supposed to contact them back with salary ecpectations. Other than that I have no information. I did not attend the JobFair as I am currently full time employed and could not find time to travel out west to the fair. I have thought about applying for this position for a few years and have decided to finally take the plunge. I have worked remote areas in Alaska previously and found it quite enjoyable. Of course I want to be paid appropriately also. The experince is very important though and the opportunity to work in Anartica would be very worthwhile and fulfilling. Enjoy and good luck.

KeymasterHey V
I haven’t either. I spoke with Mel and it is in the works, but I was expecting the HR call last week and it hasn’t happened yet. I’m going to call tomorrow.
I think the supply jobs are all going to be filled by returnees this year. Thats a first. For the rest of you don’t despair. If you get an alternate contract, take it and get the physicals done as early as you can. There will likely be dropouts before october.
V. Lorie and I went into escrow this week on a house in Crescent city, Ca. Just off the beach. Should be in it by Mid June. No furniture, but if you bring a sleeping bag we have a blow up mattress fro you and R. Come explore the redwoods when the weather gets too hot your way.
How was the survival experience. Did the video go anywhere?

Hope you and R had a great holiday! Now, get back to work!
Have you all heard about the changes for next summer? Might be quite the different place around here. Even Medical is getting ready to be out-sourced. We’ll see if that happens. Good luck on any PQ issues.
I’m wintering right now. Only 119 of us. Wish you all were here.
Take care. See you soon!

Memberthanks Mike, let me know if you hear anything today. we’ve left emails and messages and haven’t heard back. and congrats on the house, i love the redwoods!
we’re loving ours too–just knowing we don’t have to move our stuff ever again if we don’t want to is worth it. “the home base”.
of course you guys are welcome here too–i just painted the xtra bedroom. we didn’t have any furniture either but now we’re filled up from just putting the word out that we needed it (and for free too!)
no word on the video but i’ll be sending one out this year too!

MemberHi Mike,
I received the call last week and am waiting for the drug test kit to arrive, thought it might show up today… maybe tomorrow.
Congratulations on your house, nice area.

do you know how the drug test kit works? do i make an appointment anywhere and bring it in? i haven’t had to do it this way before.
thanks!
v
p.s. no call yet, still waiting. maybe it’s alphabetical mike?April 25, 2007 at 10:26 pm #3564thepooles98
KeymasterSame here for me. This 72 hour drug test requirement is new to me. I’ve always done it when getting off the ice.
I doubt we have a testing facility dedicated to drug tests here in this little town. What is the procedure and do I need to schedule a test someplace now in anticipation of getting a contract?April 26, 2007 at 2:21 am #3565MightyAtlas
ModeratorM & V —
I had to do this before I came down this last time. Evidently, you have to go to a LabCorp, or somewhere, first, and send in your urine for the drug screen. If you pass that, then you’re cleared for the ‘real’ PQ process, and they send you the entire kit.
PITA, I know, but it saves the company money if they can weed out the druggies early.
Have fun, and good luck!

KeymasterOk, I got the job offer today. I called the HR person in charge of supply and she found my file and gave me the verbal. The nearest Labcorp office is an hour and a half away, I could do it locally, but its free to do it at Labcorp. I’ll probably take a side trip. I wanted to see Grants Pass anyway.
April 26, 2007 at 5:57 am #3567will
KeymasterMike, be sure others know if you get your lab done locally, Raytheon will reimburse your expense. You don’t have to drive the three hours round-trip.
