MemberI’ve been trying to send my electronic portfolio (*.PPT) to one of the hiring folks, but it’s rather large and gets kicked back. Anyone have suggestions of how to do it securely online? It incorporates a bunch of PDFs and it’s designed to be interactive (click here takes you to certifications…click here opens a PDF of one of those certifications, etc.).
Thanks!

Try not to be so savvy……the system is set up for dolts….not volts, but dolts….remember that the company is on short time. Anything “normal” as to internet and IT type of things via internet is what you do…..just send “normal'” info in the “old school” type of communications….you have over amp’ed the bandwidth and possibly the curve…..

ParticipantIf you want to be that over the top in your resume, I suggest you host it and provide a link, just take into consideration that they may not click on the link so make sure the content on the resume you send is enough to make them want to click on the link or decide they want you on its own merit.

Dave you crack me up. 😆
Trumpetguy, yeah, Dave’s right. The hiring managers are weeding through zillions of resumes and dealing with hiring, interviews, re-bid crap, SIPs and RSPs, etc. I would like to think that they would, occasionally, look at someone’s fancy interactive Powerpoint… But if I were doing the hiring I’d discard it in a second and move on to the next applicant.

KeymasterI’d agree as well. Anything out of the ordinary- not part of the standard web based applications will probably not get looked at. I could just imagine if I were hiring and had to go to mulitlple website locations to look at things, I’d put that one aside for later.

MemberYeah, probably excessive (but who knows, it depends on the person you’re sending it to I suppose). Easiest way to host it yourself would be to grab a program called Dropbox (http://www.dropbox.com), which will let you send someone a public link to a file instead of the file itself.
