Hi Mike:
How goes it, its been about a year since I was there with you. Remember me, I was one of the poor people in the power plant. I was looking at your site to see the power plant section that you had me do for you, and unfortunatly nothing comes up. I wanted to show some of the people that I now work with what the place looked like. Could you tell me how to get to see all the photo’s that were there. Say hi to Lorie and who’s who now in the power plant. If Richter is there, say hello to him for me also.

There has been a new power plant manger this winter. I don’t know if Al is coming back or not.

Thank’s for the help. I can see the pictures and everything. As for me coming back down, I really don’t know at this time. I would like too, but for some unknown reason, Raytheon has not communicated with me. I have e-mailed them who knows how many times, called them, and sent my resume via e-mail and by post, applied for different jobs and have heard nothing from them, so I started to look for other jobs and wound up with the job that I’m at now. I’m a assistant steam engineer in a power plant in eastern Washington. Its not bad, but things could and should be better. I guess this is what you get for a government job.

This is an answer to WAD, who asked what it was like to go skinny dipping in the middle of winter in Antarctica. Some photo’s can be found on Polar Plunge in the photo albums on the left. As to what it was like? Surprising, after you cut through the ice to get to liquid water you find that the water temperature is something like 29 degrees farenheight. The outside air temperature was below zero and the windchill was something like minus 50. That meant the water temperature was a lot warmer than the air. I got undressed in a little warm-up shack they set up near the hole. With a blanket wrapped around me, I walked the hundred feet to the hole. The walk wasn’t that bad as there just wasn’t enough time to feel the cold. Jumping in the water was cold but still not as bad as I thought it would be. The shock came as I climbed the icy ladder out of the water and hit the wind while soaking wet and naked. About halfway back to the warmup shack the ice began to freeze on my head and I was thinking that this was the stupidest thing I had ever done in my life. However within 30 seconds I was back in a warm shack with lots of people to share the experience with. The stove/heater was turned up full and I was warm again in a flash. All in all it was great fun. Would I do it again? I don’t know. Once was enough to say I did it. With the right group of people I’d do it again,but more for the comraderie winterover friends than a need to feel cold.
