I was just hired to work as a janitor at McMurdo for the summer season. I have scheduled my medical and dental exams for next week. One thing I’m nervous about is I need a gum graft surgery. Would that disqualify me? I am scheduled to have the gum surgery this summer.

Welcome! And congrats on getting hired.
Dental care is minimal on the Ice so you need to have everything fixed (and healed) before you go — the station may not be equipped to handle anything worse than a lost filling. If they see a potential problem they may not PQ you until it’s fixed.
Many people get delayed by dental problems, it’s really common. All I can suggest is to do the exam and surgery as soon as possible. That way, if they say you need more work you’ll have time to correct any problems.
