Its been 3 months since I left the ICE. I finally have some time to get onto the message board. I had a great time in Antarctica and thank all of you that gave me advice along the way. How is everyone?

Life is good down here, this winter. Jim and Sarah are working their butts off, and the rest of us are getting pretty damned good at doing House-Mouse duties.
Only about 12 weeks to go till Winfly. It’s all going by so fast.
aJeff, All is well in Northern California. We are in escrow on a falling down house. Volunteering for the Redwood National and State Park. If you drop in on the northern visitor centers or hike the trails you may see me with my spiffy new volunteer uniform. Might be getting a summer paid job as well.
I’ve been moved up to winfly. So you all get to see me for 6 months this year. If I get the seasonal job in the park I’ll back off to mainbody.

Hey I believe I owe some thank yous to the message board also. I am back in California for the time being. It was a great season. If anyone is thinking of being a DA do it! People only say it’s terrible so the best job on station will stay a secret.

I owe you all another thanks as well. This board was a great resource for me, in fact I doubt if I would have been hired at all if I hadn’t gotten great advice and encouragement from everyone!
In any case I’m heading back for another season. I’ll be coming down at mainbody this year, for another season in Supply. Hope to see you in October, and thanks again!
Casey (worked in Central Supply last season)hey guys! looks like I’m coming back winfly again – just got back from 5 weeks in eastern europe…atlas, your posts are entertaining as always (just don’t get too ruanchy or I’ll post that picture of you in antlers)…Jeff, line handling was one of the highlights of my season…are you coming back? Casey, do you know what work center you’ll be in? I haven’t been told mine yet, but I’ll be a materialsperson this year.

Hi, I’m here and around…. I won’t be returning to the Ice this season. We’re up in Alaska right now, and plan to stay here for a few years. I just got an email from Genevieve, she’s an alternate right now.
I’m sure gonna miss going down there…. you’ll all have to keep me posted on what’s going on.

Holly — You WILL be back for the summer though, right? Wouldn’t be the same here without you. Kevin coming back, too? Hope the CH incident isn’t still haunting you guys.

I hate to say it but I’m not “supposed” to come back to the ice this summer. I committed to a new job stateside but my heart is not in it. Kevin will be going back, which doesn’t work for me either! I’m getting plenty of heat from ice friends, who are weakening my resolve…want to add some?Oh Holly…

Hello friends…
I don’t have any plans to return in upcoming seasons. Who knows what the future holds though… I don’t think anyone ever truly escapes the Antarctica vortex, no matter how much they claim they’ll never be back. I’m in the works to move to Portland, which is becoming a microcosm of DA’s. We’ve got four in the area right now. You’d think once we left we’d be so sick of each other’s faces, but here we are slowly migrating to a central point. I never thought I would say this, but I wouldn’t have traded my DA experience for any other job on station. Would I return to it? Hahahahah…. not a chance. It was a great life experience though, and when I call my former DA friends we laugh so hard about everything that happened, and I don’t know many other stations that leave with that kind of bond. It’s rough though people! Don’t be surprised if you’re in Oscar the Grouch territory after a DA season. I can’t say I am motivated to return at this point… but crazy things have happened.holly, this is your “inner voice” speaking: u belong on da Ice! I see that you are on Mel’s list of hirees so I’m thinking “hmmmmm” what up wid dat! I’d love to come to Aspen! I am homeless end o June, fly to SF for some cloudy cool relief, then to Yellowstone with Will…maybe we come see you early-mid July?
ZONDRA! we’ve been thinking of you!! It won’t be the same without our daily “scurry” race to the gym & chinese fire drills!
Atlas…I can tell you are just keeping a “lid on it” & wanna cut loose…I had my annual today..dont’ go there!
I have about 5 Austin people hooking up for jobs right now…I’ve become the HR person for this town for the Ice – it’s exhausting!
