    Hi All,

As I was packing and about step to out the door for deployment, I was thinking of all those little ironic things you find on the Ice. For instance…

    * The favorite dessert is ice cream.

    * The snow is often too cold for good skiing.

    * A common complaint is that the rooms are too hot.

    * Antarctica has the lowest population density of any continent, but stations are often so cramped that it’s hard to get away from people.

    * McMurdo has only one small store and three bars. It now also has two ATMs, and the first one dispensed over $60,000 in one day in 2001.

    I’m sure there’s many others… I’ll post more as I see them.

I was there before ATM’s. Could have used one a couple of times at the ships store and at the Scott Base store.

They take credit cards now too.

Oh, here’s another irony I had to deal with today… McMurdo has a parking problem. There’s no place to park!
