http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15834019/page/2/It only took a couple of hours after he posted his first article for the emails to start flying around. Most were a little angry at how much he felt inconvienenced.
Mholy crap! look at all those comments on the blog…a ton of them instantly supporting the tourist. “you guys are too hard on him” and other such rot. How does a freeloader manage to garnish that much bleeding heart support so fast?
He’s said he is sorry. While what he did was a little like going into an Elk’s club and telling everyone how much you don’t like the Elks, I’m probably going to fall a little towards his side at this point. He wrote his story on the first day. As we all know the first day here is exhausting. He’s apologised and now it’s over. The articles since are all about life here in a more realistic manor. Time to give him a break.
MI agree. He’s taken it very well (and he’s writing quite profusely and positively). Give him my best.
After reading a ton of McM blogs, it looks like every one already gave him a break w/in 3 days of it. In hindsight, It was even worse
he has the power of marketed worldwide attention…and thru his own actions with that power, was made to feel like the local annual scum for a day or so.
As you see on this and other sites, I did my venting posting at the ‘tourist incompatible’ side of it. Now I see he’d already been made to feel low, long before I’d even read about it.
Now he’s calling it a Colony, with a capital C. You silly colony dwellers 🙂
One thing I will acquiesce too…he a non-scientist focusing on the project so it’s not reading like so much of a sitrep but manages to put some of the other people in there–the 90% (?) pop contractors.
