The message got deleted before I had a chance to reply, but here goes. I think the point of the sock and water bottle cutbacks is that faced with millions of dollars of budget shortfall, it was easy to get rid of things nobody really used anyway. It’s my understanding that these cutbacks are only for the general population. Most of them only wear the items on the airplane flight down and only because it is required.  If you have a job that requires warmer clothing, you will still get it.
