Just before I left the Pole this year a couple of NPR reporters came down. I met (and played basketball with) Peter, the producer of this report:

    Jim,
That cracks me up too…great story.

My sister just sent me that link, and I just listened to it. Yup, I’m one of those 60 Polies…as I look out my window the shadowy sun is low on the horizon over the Dome…

    Bring on the night…

Bill, havent you been going to-and-from the ice since the 80’s? Sounds like an addiction….someone should call HR…and housing…

Can I send you anything…the Shining? Ravenous? perhaps some RPSC Management bobble heads or a rusty axe? just kidding, I know the station is already closed.

    Jim,
The 80s? What do you think I am, some FNG 🙂 My first trip down was in 1972, but that was rather brief and was only to McM.

And you must remember I’ve skipped a few years plus or minus a decade or so. After all, I have the dubious record of having 2 Pole winters 28 years apart. I decided not to wait so long this time, might be a bit hard to PQ.

But since you asked….darn it, I forgot to pack my rusty axe, can you email me one?
