MemberIt’s Big V, still here at McMurdo–I just wanted to add in that it doesn’t seem like the jobs are ever updated as “filled” on the Raytheon website when they actually are. I actually just checked the website and every job listed still says “open” (which is not true). So, I’d still put in an application but I’m guessing most jobs are filled–you can always hope for a last minute cancellation but I highly recommend the job fair next year. Good luck!

KeymasterHey V
It must have slipped my mind that you were wintering. I’m getting old you know and have too many years of winter T3 syndrome. What was your reaction to the STORM? I really wish I could have seen it. Winter isn’t for everyone, but for me, 100 mph winds, bitter cold and building parts blowing away while you are inside are all part of the excitement. Any Aurora pics you’ld like to share.
by the way I think more people will see your posts if you leave them on the discussion page. Click on the discussion link in the blue area on the left.
cheers

MemberHi Mike,
I figured it out now, I think when I’m replying to these messages when they are emailed to me, they automatically end up here (general). I should be replying within the message board….thanks for letting me know.
Yes, the storm was awesome–I feel lucky to have been here for it. The dorms felt like they were going to topple over. It was a mess here for awhile, stuff blown around everywhere. There was stuff here from Scott Base even!
So you two will be back Winfly? I heard Lori is coming to 136–that’s where I’m working now. I’m really enjoying my new job in Supply and especially enjoying the winter pace–do you plan on staying for winter 2005?

KeymasterI just today received my email letting me know I’m pq’d for the next year. I should be coming in on the 2nd winfly flight and staying on for the summer and the following winter. As it stands I’m the Food Service supply senior for the summer, dropping back to materialsperson for the winter. I don’t think Mel has decided where to put me yet which is cool. I enjoy being moved around to new places where they need someone experienced.
Didn’t you come down with your spouse? If so where is he working.
Also if you need some good photos of warm weather to post on your wall let me knowJune 19, 2004 at 2:40 am #2004Big V
MemberHi Mike
I am here with my husband, he’s working in Central Supply as a Materialsperson. We’re both planning on coming back for next winter too. Tonight is the Mid-Winters dinner..and tomorrow another plunge.
See you in August!

KeymasterAh the plunge. I did that once. In some ways it was fun and in other ways stupid. Nobody has ever been hurt that I know of . You have to do it at least once in your antarctic career. Let me know if you did it
