Although nothing can be taken from Antarctica,
Australian Senator Barnaby Joyce has a different opinion:

    After his April Antarctica trip,
he finds it is about getting time Australia starts mining Antarctica,
making sure to beat other countries in doing so…

Luckely not the whole Australian government shares his opinion!

Let us all remember that thanks to
the 1994 Madrid Protocol on Antarctic environment protection:
any activity relating to mineral resources is banned!

Didn’t anybody tell the senator that on his trip?

I saw that article last week. It produced an uproar in Australia and as far as I can tell it stopped right there with the one senator.

Personnally I don’t really see how mining could be feasable. I look at how the machines here do in cold weather. The tires go flat, the hydraulic hoses crack and leak. They are always breaking down. Nobody could make money easily down here.

That’s good news that is is practically not suitable!

Myself I wonder what tax payers’ money is used for: these antarctica trips are not cheap as we know,
and on top of that this PM using the money doesn’t learn a thing on the boat.

    Have a nice day!
