KeymasterHey everyone….
so, I’ve been a bit derelict in doing any admin tasks and what have you here lately. I really appreciate the other admins/mods who have pitched in to help keep the spammers at bay and keep things running smoothly. Thanks guys!
While I’ve been busy seeing South America the development team over at phpbb (the guys who make the software that runs this board) have released an update for the board. I have installed the latest version of this software, and it appears to me that everything is working…though I haven’t tried everything. If anyone notices something amiss, would you please either send me a PM or an email and I’ll try and get it fixed up.
Some exciting new features in this version:
- new captcha support – I have elected to use the question/answer method for now. We’ll see how that works and change things up if need be.
- ATOM feed support!!! this is a feature I have been looking forward to for a long time. To get the feed, you can simply go to: http://antarcticmemories.thruhere.net/feed.php and subscribe in your favorite reader!
Looks like I’ll have some idle time in Hawaii in the weeks to come. I’d really like to dress this place up a bit…change the header graphic to something better for starters…at least go back to what it was before I spilled beer on the server. I’m also going to be near my “stuff” again. There is at least a slight chance that I have a copy of the photo gallery that was on here before beer was spilled on the server…if I can find it, I will restore that too.
Well…that’s all I have for now. Hope everyone is having a great start to 2010. Any summer folks headed through Hawaii on the way back “home” stop in and say “Hi”

KeymasterWhat is an ATOM feed? Just for curiosity sake mind you. I didn’t click on the link because I haven’t a clue what it is.

ParticipantIt is a news feed that can be monitored by a news reader. This allows a single source to draw in information from publishing sources. It is much like an RSS feed, though I think the difference is ATOM is delivered in strict XML, could be wrong on that.
Anyway, you could get an Atom reader, and subscribe here, and it would feed all the new news being posted right along side the info of the other sites you would subscribe to. -
